I voted for chicken tikka but it's not showing now..
hmm I've made a balls of that widget.
I voted for Public Forums. The other stuff can all just be marketing garbage but the existing customers opinions and views ain't![]()
By "draw you in" I took this to mean get you interested in looking in more depth at the hosts offerings. On that basis I put price as that's the first consideration of many small sites looking for their first hosting co (as opposed to free webspace from thier ISP). Certainly the ones I've spoken to about hosting had cost forefront in their minds. Support, forums, uptime guarantees, etc will be what clinch the sale once you've caught their attention; but if the price isn't competitive in the first instance they'll keep on looking.
Dare I suggest an even smaller entry level package in the reseller packages for those just dipping a toe in the waters?
Someone who's looking after a website or two for clubs/charities/churches etc they are involved with as a hobby rather than professionally may desire the site package flexibility, and ability to allow others in the various groups the cpanel admin access that a reseller account provides whilst keeping the sites separate. However they probably couldn't justify to the groups concerned the additional size and cost of a full reseller account split amongst them.
Plus it's easier to upsell an existing customer who's outgrown his current package than attract a new one who may be looking around many other hosts.
To be fair the cheapest Reseller account is very affordable and just 2-3 sites will pay for it with ease.
The support from the crew (Colin, Drew etc) is top notch..
I would be worried if it was any cheaper that something else is being cut.

Any less and it'd be cheaper for each group to have a basic shared package. e.g. 3 x £30 = £90 which costs the groups less than the £160/3 = £53.33 of a reseller package.

Many who are looking after websites on a non-profit basis will only be doing so for a handful of groups they are personally involved with. This is likely to be less than the 6 needed to consider a reseller account.
We did talk about creating starter reseller accounts some time ago and it may be worth looking into again. Most of the customers we have in the position Trev talks about tend to use shared hosting accounts and add the other websites as addon domains. 2-3 sites on a basic package is very common..
Time to think of a new poll this one has a clear winner.
Any of the 3 people going to admit to clicking unlimited diskspace/bandwidth? Havn't seen a company offer that yet. If someone finds a company that offers unlimited disckspace/ bandwidth let me know so I can transfer 16TB of files to their server, see how unlimited unlimted really is...![]()
